Three people safe after a former carpentry blaze in Brompton, northwest Adelaide

Firefighters are battling a fire at an industrial property in Brompton, northwest of Adelaide.

The flames have engulfed the old carpentry business this morning and have thrown feathers of black smoke around the area.

Neighboring businesses rushed to save their valuable equipment and cars as more than 60 firefighters battled the blaze.

The Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) said there were three people inside the first street property at the time, but no one was injured.

Authorities say it has not been a business for some time and has been used as makeshift housing for the owner.

The building is at risk of collapsing and was still too unsafe to enter and determine the cause of the fire, the MFS said.

They said the fire damaged a distillery next door.
