A chronology of the relationship between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard and key moments in the court case

The close court case between actors Johnny Depp and Amber Heard is coming to an end.

They sue each other for defamation, each claiming to have been abused by the other.

2009: The former couple meets on set

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard met while filming The Rum Diary in 2009. The film was released in 2011.

At the time, Depp was in a relationship with French actress Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has two children. Mrs. Heard came out as a bisexual in 2010 and was in a relationship with artist Tasya van Ree.

2012: Depp and Heard are in a relationship

2014: The couple got engaged
