A fugitive wanted to kill an elite cyclist traveled to New York City, authorities say

Armstrong, 34, is accused in the May 11 shooting of Wilson, who had previously dated Armstrong’s boyfriend, of what investigators believe could have been a deadly act of romantic jealousy.

On May 17, a homicide warrant was issued against Armstrong.

On the night of the murder, Wilson was staying at a friend’s house in Austin to prepare for a race, according to an affidavit of arrest filed by police in Travis County District Court.

According to police, officers went to the house shortly before 10 p.m. to find Wilson suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The surveillance video shows a vehicle like Armstrong’s near the scene of the shooting, according to the affidavit.

The traveler is believed to have been Armstrong

Surveillance photos and video show a person believed to be Armstrong at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport around 12:30 p.m. on May 14, according to a Marshals Service press release of the United States.

Armstrong, an Austin-based real estate agent and yoga teacher, boarded a flight to Houston’s Hobby Airport and then took a connecting flight to New York’s LaGuardia Airport, according to the press release.

Armstrong was last seen wearing a black shirt with a pink design on the chest, white jeans, a blue denim jacket, black and white sneakers, and a black face mask. He may have had a yoga mat on his shoulders, according to the statement.

Armstrong weighs approximately 125 pounds and is about 5 feet 8 inches tall.
