A man has been charged with the alleged murder of a 25-year-old woman who was shot in the head yesterday morning at her home in Sunshine Coast.
Earlier, investigations revealed that the woman was shot shortly after 9 a.m. yesterday, during a riot on Coolum Street, Dicky Beach.
She was taken to Caloundra Base Hospital by a 58-year-old man she knew, but later died.
The accused, a 30-year-old Narangba man, was intercepted by police and detained about 20 kilometers away in Sippy Downs, about six hours after the incident.
He was denied bail and was due to appear in court in Maroochydore on Saturday morning.
In a previous statement, police said the man was “detained without incident” and was “assisting in the investigation.”

Earlier Friday, police said the woman and the defendant knew each other and were visiting the owner of the Dicky Beach home when the alleged shooting occurred.
“However, preliminary investigations suggest that this is not a domestic incident,” police said in a statement.
The homeowner and the 58-year-old man are assisting police in their investigations.
