A man thwarts an alleged attempted robbery armed with a metal stool

CCTV footage has captured the moment when a store worker repelled two alleged armed thieves from a central Queensland gas station by throwing a metal stool.

The camera filmed two masked people leaving an allegedly stolen Volkswagen before entering a Marian store near Mackay in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Another person remained in the vehicle, with NSW CVZ12H registration.

The video appears to show the two people waving a knife and a piece of meat at a 37-year-old employee, whom police said asked for money.

The worker refuses and instead throws a metal stool at one of the intruders, who is then seen fleeing the Anzac Avenue store.

The 37-year-old man was not injured in the clash.

Police allegedly called them later in Mount Pleasant, Mackay, where two people had entered a convenience store when they broke the glass door.
