A man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following an incident on a residential street in Dundee.

Emergency personnel rushed to the scene shortly after 4pm on Thursday amid reports of a “severely assaulted” man.

The condition of the 29-year-old is unknown, but he has been taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

Police erected a cordon around Helmsdale Avenue in the Kirkton area of ​​the city while initial investigations were underway.

Witnesses suggest that uniformed officers and CID officers closed the site for several hours.

A Scottish police spokesman said consultations were being held at an early stage.

They added: “Officers received a report of a 29-year-old man who had been seriously assaulted on Helmsdale Avenue in Dundee around 4.10pm on Thursday 26 May.

“The man has been taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment for serious injuries.

“Consultations are underway to establish full circumstances.”
