A 15-year-old boy was charged with murder and criminal possession of a gun Sunday morning after stabbing a 14-year-old boy to death this weekend on a subway platform in Harlem.
The 14-year-old victim was identified Sunday as Ethan Reyes, New York police said.
Police were originally called to 137 St / City College train station on Saturday afternoon for an ongoing crime and found the 14-year-old man on the platform with a stab wound to the abdomen. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The murder suspect, a 15-year-old whose identity has not been revealed because he was a minor, was bleeding from his back and abdomen when he was arrested Saturday later.

“We don’t think it was a random act. The individuals involved are believed to know each other and no other suspects are being sought at this time,” New York City Police Chief of Traffic Jason Wilcox said at a news conference.
A knife and a broom were recovered from the scene.

The stabbing is the latest high-profile incident to occur in the New York City subway system. Traffic crime has increased 52.5% so far this year compared to the same time period in 2021, according to New York police data.
