A woman was hit by a vehicle while crossing a street in Montreal, the driver was arrested

A woman was trying to cross a street in Montreal and was hit by a vehicle. He is in critical condition in hospital.

Montreal Police (SPVM) reports that a 911 call around 4 a.m. prompted officers to be sent to the corner of St. Louis. Jacques St. and St. Pierre Ave. in the district of Ville-Marie.

Police say the 25-year-old woman was crossing the street when she was hit by a car driven by a 22-year-old man who fled the scene.

“The suspicious vehicle was quickly intercepted,” said SPVM spokeswoman Caroline Chevrefils.

The woman was taken to hospital, where she remains, and the man was arrested.

Researchers will find him later today.

The scene was protected for analysis, and the police investigation continues.
