The Queen is celebrating 70 years on the throne this year, the first time a British monarch has celebrated a platinum jubilee.
For many people in the UK, this means a four-day weekend, thanks to the bonus of an additional holiday in honor of Elizabeth II.
While the extra day off is very welcome for anyone who wants to join in the large-scale celebrations or organize a party, you may find some interruption as a result.
Postal services will be affected, for example, while stores may be operating at different times; this is what we know about major supermarkets during the Platinum Jubilee.
When are supermarkets open for the Jubilee?
Asda
Individual store hours may vary, however, depending on previous holidays, it is likely that some Asda stores may open from 8 a.m. instead of 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. instead of 10pm or midnight on public holidays.

When are the other UK holidays in 2022?
Bank holiday dates are slightly across the UK. England and Wales always have the same holidays, but Scotland and Northern Ireland have some of their own dates.
For example, Scotland’s summer holidays fall in early August and not at the end of the month.
The four nations used to mark the same date, following the application of the Bank Holiday Act of 1871, introduced by the liberal politician Sir John Lubbock.
However, the date for England, Wales and Northern Ireland was definitively moved to the end of August 1971, after a trial period which began in 1965.
The following are the 2022 holiday dates for all four UK nations in full:
