Kimberley police are calling for help in identifying a man allegedly responsible for a brutal sexual assault on a woman at a party on Broome Cable’s iconic beach last weekend.

Police said more than 100 people had turned up at local detectives with witnesses and video footage of the night the woman was attacked, but the suspect had not yet been identified.
“It was an isolated area away from the incident and it looks like the suspect has targeted the victim,” Broome Detective Senior Sergeant Brian Beck said.
The woman was at a beach doof event in Cable Beach in the early hours of last Sunday morning when the alleged assault took place.
Police say she had walked “meters” away from the main crowd at the event to use the toilet when a man approached her behind her, hit her on the head several times and sexually assaulted her.
The man is believed to have fled the scene to the dunes after the attack.

Sergeant Major Beck said the partygoers who had attended the event had been especially helpful to police.
“We’ve had more than 100 people show up and identify that they were at the event, but we know there were many more and we know there are other people who would have been in the area at the time,” he said. to say.
The victim, who is understood to be a local from Broome, is still recovering from the serious head injuries suffered by the attack.
“She is very traumatized by the incident … and quite upset, still very scared,” said Sergeant Major Beck.
The man is described as between 170 and 177 centimeters tall, with dark skin and a slender complexion.

Doofs are popular in the tourist town, with events being held frequently on local beaches and in the woods on the outskirts of Broome town center.
Sergeant Major Beck said the incident meant local police would now look at future events with renewed interest.
“Behind the scenes, we held talks with the organizers and the town hall around the forest gates,” he said.
“Given that there was something very serious going on at this event, we’re interested to know more about these events and the people who go to these events.”
