South Bristol police chiefs have confirmed that no one involved in last night’s major riot in Brislington, which is now being treated as a murder investigation, has any known links to Bristol.
Detectives said they wanted to reassure residents living in various parts of Brislington, who were cordoned off overnight, who are treating what happened as an isolated incident.
Officers leading the murder investigation are now tasked with trying to reconstruct what happened in Brislington shortly before 10pm last night, Tuesday 24 May, and what a large group of men it was on Broomfield Road in the first place.

South Bristol Inspector Chris Green told Bristol Live that they did not believe any of the men involved had any ties to Bristol.
This includes six men who were injured, the man who died and the five men who were arrested. Insp Green said two of the arrested men were arrested by Thames Valley police later last night on their way to London.
“What I can tell you is that five men have been arrested on suspicion of murder,” he said. “None of these men have links to the Bristol area we know, and it is believed they are not known in the wider Avon and Somerset police area.
“What I can say is that two men were arrested in the Thames Valley police area and were thought to be on their way to London. At this time I can confirm that one man has been killed. We are working to identify and provide them with the care and support they need right now, “he said.
Insp Green noted that they believe the violence began in the area at the end of Bloomfield Road’s Bath Road, a place where teams of forensic investigators spent much of Wednesday afternoon touring the scene looking for the tip of the said cars, gutters, sidewalks, and cordoned-off trees. .
Other locations were cordoned off overnight and Wednesday, including nearby Runnymead Avenue, Bath Road and Callington Road Hospital. An ambulance rushed to the scene and the man was treated but tragically died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

Insp Green added: “I can confirm that six men were injured and one more person was treated by our ambulance service colleagues and, on the way to the hospital, one of these men unfortunately lost In the early hours of this morning, a critical incident was reported and a murder is now being investigated. We are trying to find out exactly what happened here.
“As a result of those calls to the emergency services, a number of men were located in the area,” he added. Police said they want to hear anyone living in the area who has pictures of the area last night, especially the Bath Road area of ​​Brislington, anyone with doorbell cameras, cell phone pictures and anyone who has seen something suspicious.
“This is a residential area and as this incident unfolded last night, the community would have witnessed a violent and worrying incident,” Insp Green said. “This morning, police officers on the street and a series of police cordons were woken up. I want to thank them for their patience as we work to understand exactly what happened here.

“What I would appeal to is anyone with pictures of cell phones, CCTV, doorbell cameras, anything you think would support the investigation, get in touch with us by calling 101.
“Some of the scenes in the area will be stopped. But we can expect to see a police presence in the next few days in the Bloomfield Road area where the riot took place. This murder is at a very early stage and we will keep all the query lines at this time.
“But what we do know is that none of the people involved have ties to this area. We need to understand why they were here and why.”
