Britney Spears’ ex-husband was arrested while crashing her wedding site in Southern California, according to authorities.
Captain Cameron Henderson of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said officers responded to an intrusion call after 2 p.m. Thursday. He said the pop singer’s first husband, Jason Alexander, was arrested at the ceremony site.
Alexander was arrested after officers noticed he had an arrest warrant in another county, Henderson said.
Earlier on Thursday, Alexander posted a live video from his Instagram account as he approached the security of the event. Walking through what looked like an almost empty but decorated house and gardens, he told them repeatedly that Spears had invited him.
“She’s my first wife, my only wife,” said Alexander, who briefly married his childhood friend Spears in 2004. Their marriage only lasted 55 hours.
“I’m her first husband,” she continued in the video. “I’m here to crash the wedding.”
Variety reported that MPs were still investigating what had happened and will determine whether additional charges will be brought against Alexander in connection with the allegation of admission.
Spears was also married for two years to dancer Kevin Federline, with whom she shares two children, ages 14 and 15.
Spears and her fiancé Sam Asghari were expected to get married on Thursday. The couple met on the set of a music video in 2016. They announced their engagement in September last year, shortly before Spears won a legal battle with her family and was released from 13-year guardianship. in November.
A Spears representative did not immediately return a request for comment.
