CDPR creates US studio, moves Cyberpunk sequel team to Boston

After a flurry of announcements about its upcoming projects, including three new Witcher titles and a sequel to the beleaguered Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red’s global PR director Radek Grabowski has confirmed a global overhaul . As seen by Eurogamer, when it comes time to train staff for the Cyberpunk sequel, CDPR will start by moving the team to Boston, Massachusetts.

Massachusetts is, you’ll notice, quite a long way from CDPR’s base of operations in Warsaw, Poland.

The move to the US will form the backbone of CDPR’s new satellite studio, called CD Projekt Red North America. According to Grabowski, CDPRNA will include a “newly established Boston center” that will operate in conjunction with its Vancouver studio. The hope, Grabowski says, is that CDPR can use Boston as a landing pad to “take full advantage of the American talent pool.”

Cyberpunk 2077 mission director Paweł Sasko also put his money where his mouth is, saying he’ll be moving to Boston to help build the team.

I’m moving to Boston along with the core team responsible for Cyberpunk 2077 to establish a new studio and be the home base for the US team.

Between all these announcements and changes, CDPR had no more Cyberpunk 2077 updates to add. The game’s expansion, Phantom Liberty, will remain its only expansion. There was also no mention of the game’s multiplayer offering, continuing the long silence surrounding that particular project.

Elsewhere at the company, CDPR co-founder and joint CEO Marcin Iwiński announced he will step down before the end of the year, leaving vacant a role he has held for nearly 30 years.
