Two major building projects at opposite ends of the city will be unveiled on Monday at Kelowna Town Hall.
The Council will be asked to approve the Official Community Plan and zoning amendments for a third hotel within the airport business park, and also approve a development permit for a 216 student housing building. beds on Okanagan College campus.
The city planning department recommends that the council give its approval to both.
Argus Properties, which developed two other airport hotels, Hampton Suites and Four Points Sheraton, is also seeking approval for this third hotel property.
Plans for the Courtyard Marriott hotel call for 200 rooms in a six-story setting along with an area and a level of underground parking.
Argus previously submitted plans for a similarly sized hotel two years ago, but suspended those plans due to the pandemic.
The hotel is located on Fleet Court, just behind the Sheraton.
The Board is also being asked to issue a development permit for a six-story student housing building on the southwest side of the OC campus.
The property in question was previously subdivided to increase the allowable height on campus from three to six storeys to accommodate the housing project.
The 216-bed project would include 168 micro-units, four double units and 10 quadruple units.
It would also include 67 more parking stops to go with the parking lot already available at the residence on the adjacent Skaha campus.
A club room, a games room and a study space on each floor would also be included.
If approved, the new project would increase the total number of student housing on campus to 360.
