Customs agent didn’t think ‘Stranger Things’ star was here to be on ‘The Tonight Show’

Joseph Quinn joined The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, where the Stranger Things Season 4 star opened up about being detained by Customs while coming here for this, his first late-night appearance. Although the British actor, who plays Eddie Munson on the show, didn’t have a believable reason to be in the country, luckily he had a fan nearby.

“They took me in, I guess you could say, it was more of a dungeon, and they asked me to wait there for about 20 minutes,” Quinn said. “Then I was summoned to this desk where someone asked me, ‘What are you doing in America, sir?’ I said, ‘Well, I’m actually here to meet Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.’ And he didn’t believe me. And one of his colleagues looked at me, looked at him and said, ‘Leave Eddie in peace”.

Quinn said the colleague explained to the original officer that he is Eddie from Stranger Things, prompting the officer to ask, “Are you Eddie Munson?”

Turns out the officer is also a fan of the show and the line of questioning changed dramatically.

“He said, ‘Are you coming back next season?'” Quinn said. “I said, ‘I don’t know.’ He says, ‘The better.’ He gave me the passport.”

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weekdays at 11:35pm on NBC.
