Denise Van Outen of Celebrity Gogglebox talks about the return after the separation of the relationship

Gogglebox star Denise Van Outen has opened up her return to the hit series following her breakup with longtime partner Eddie Boxshall.

The TV presenter has been on the show since she was launched in 2019 with her ex-boyfriend. But Van Outen has revealed that, despite his breakup, he will not leave the show, but will write his friend, singer and actor Duncan James.

Speaking to The Sun about the news, he said: “The most important thing is that we trust each other. I trust him and we respect each other as friends.

“For me, these are the times when things don’t go so well in your life and there’s someone coming up to you to make sure you’re okay. Dunc is always the first, he has the biggest heart.” .

Speaking about his decision to bring James to the show, Van Outen stressed the importance of finding someone with whom he had a “natural” connection.

“The reason Gogglebox works so well is that it’s so fast on the wall, you have to see the authenticity of friendships and relationships. Duncan and I felt like the perfect fit.”

James also shared his thoughts on joining Gogglebox, saying that he is not nervous about participating in a popular show, but that he is excited to work with a close friend.

“We get to know so many people in this industry, so many celebrity mates and stuff, but to say you have a genuine partner, for me, that’s very little.

“Denise is one of those people for me. I know I can trust her and that’s one of the most important things, and she knows she can trust me.”

Van Outen and James will join the new Celebrity Gogglebox season along with other stars, including Rylan Clark with his mother Linda, Nick Grimshaw and niece Liv, Paul Sinha of The Chase and her husband Oliver, and fellow group of Happy Mondays, Shaun Ryder and Bez.

Gogglebox airs on Friday nights at 9pm on Channel 4.
