Destiny 2 takes players back to the Leviathan foray into the Haunted season

In what has surely been the strangest start to a new season of Destiny 2 in a while, Bungie’s surprise revealed last night’s Season of the Haunted after it was accidentally leaked before Tuesday’s release and they are some important things happening. The giant ship Cabal from the first raid has returned, is in communion with the evil pyramid on the moon, and now the nightmares are back. To combat these new threats, players will get the long-awaited rework of their skills in Solar 3.0 and the exotic side weapon Trespasser from Destiny 1’s Rise of Iron expansion. Let’s break it down in detail.

First, the setting of the story. Calus has returned, his ship, the Leviathan, is corrupt, and he is trying to talk to the Pyramid of the Moon to gain access to the power of darkness. The last time we heard about the dethroned emperor, he was experimenting with contempt (The Presage) and broadcasting propaganda to gather more Cabal at his side (Vox Obscura). Now his latest plan seems to have triggered a new set of nightmares, including one that seems to have a past relationship with the Stoic commander Zavala in particular. In addition, the HELM Command Center has flown and is now orbiting the Moon.

So this is the backdrop to the evocative, tradition-filled backdrop of Season 17, but what will the players do and collect this time around? Here is the list of new content so far:

  • Leviathan Free Scroll Space: It looks like Calus’s gold-plated ship has returned to full Metroid and is now a patrol option for players.
  • Nightmare Containment: Seasonal public event where players summon and destroy nightmares in the basement of Calus’ ship.
  • Sever: Seasonal missions where players explore the Leviathan to discover Calus’ plan.
  • Solar 3.0: A complete redesign of players’ solar skill trees that adds snippets and looks to align them with Stasis and Void and add more customization.
  • Trespasser Exotic Sidearm: Returning from Destiny 1, Shiro-4’s precision burst weapon was fine in its day, but it may have been set up to be more deadly and fun depending on how it is handled in the trailer for season 17.
  • Menagerie Loot: The Calus Mini Tool, Beloved, Austringer, and Drang from Season of Opulance Menagerie are returning.
  • Mysterious Dungeon: The first of two new dungeons this year will be released on May 27 with a standard and master difficulty level.
  • Some extremely metallic adjustments – the season pass is back as usual, but the armor trim this time looks very extra and I’m here to do it.

Season 17 also brings a lot of other changes. As for the balance of weapons, Glaives is getting a big boost. The new type of weapon introduced to Witch Queen was first OP and then nerfed to the ground. In the future, they should be more useful, as melee attacks on Glaive are stronger and trigger advantages. Trace rifles will also do more damage and changes to the PVP should make air combat more viable.

Other major changes include a review of Iron Banner. The power level will now be turned off (which was originally the full point of the mode), rewards will be based on daily challenges, and the Rift mode of sinking the orb will return along with a new map. Meanwhile, Trials of Osiris is getting a lot of new loot, though the competitive PVP mode won’t return until June 10th. Solstice of Heroes will also return this summer, and unlike in recent years, it looks like it has been reworked and will be done. we hope to revolve around a new activity and grinding. Oh, and the players’ loot box increases 100 spaces.

Bungie was extremely secretive about the revelation of this season and spent a lot of time in the last few days announcing it as one of the best in the game. At first glance I’m intrigued but it doesn’t surprise me. It’s great (and cheap) to see old content reused and re-felt new, but there’s also something extremely Destiny about finding a Goddess Roller of the Beloved Sniper Rifle for the second time, while the old version and little fed still collects dust. in my turn.

Hopefully, there are some extra surprises awaiting the filming and historical opening mission of Season of the Haunted when it is released later today. It will run until August 23.
