A pub co-owned by former England cricket captain Stuart Broad has been severely damaged by fire.
Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire firefighters were called to the Tap and Run in the village of Upper Broughton around 3.20am on Saturday.
Eight firefighters from the two counties remained there throughout the night.
The Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said a roof fire had caused “serious damage” to the property, with airstrips needed to put out the flames.
A statement on the pub’s website said the venue would not be listed “in the foreseeable future”.
Broad, 35, who plays for Nottinghamshire and has served as England captain One Day and Twenty20, owns the pub with retired cricketer Harry Gurney.
He won the 2021 pub in Leicestershire and was listed in the Times list of the best places for Sunday lunch in 2022.
According to the Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, the fire is believed to have been accidental.
They tweeted: “The fire is completely out, but we’ll be back all day to make sure it stays that way.
“It is believed to be an accidental fire. The main road is open. Thank you to everyone in the area for your patience and understanding.”
