Harry and Meghan will join the royal family for the first time in over two years at today’s Trooping the Color.

In what is expected to be an exciting – and very public – family reunion, Archie and Lilibet, three years old, are also expected to bring almost one.

The children are likely to finally meet their little cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Lilibet has never been introduced to her royal relatives, while Archie has not been to the UK since she was six months old.

But there is no invitation for the embarrassed Duke of York, even in private, showing the extent to which the Queen’s son has fallen into disfavor.

The Queen’s Horse Guards Birthday Parade in London is the first official platinum jubilee event of the festive weekend, and the most frequented by the Windsors.

Many had thought that Her Majesty’s appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the traditional parade after the parade would be the most anticipated moment of the day.

But it is likely that in fact all eyes are on the family reunion that is being played 50 yards from the road.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been invited by the Queen to join family members to watch the spectacular military event from the Major General’s office overlooking the Whitehall Arms Camp.

The room, once used by the Duke of Wellington, extends through the Horse Guards entrance. This is where dignitaries traditionally look to see if they are not involved in the parade process.

The group will not include the Queen, the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge or the Royal Princess.

His Majesty will remain at Buckingham Palace where he will be greeted by the cavalry returning from the balcony there.

Charles will receive the salute while the Color of the 1st Battalion of the Irish Guard is in troops and will inspect the Troops of the House Division on behalf of the monarch.

He will be accompanied by his eldest son and sister, all three on horseback.

The Duchess of Cornwall, the Duchess of Cambridge, the Earl and Countess of Wessex and many other members of the royal family will travel to the Horse Guard parade from the palace in carriages.

They will then disembark and attend the rest of the event from the commanding officer’s office along with Harry and Meghan, who will arrive by car.

The great royal feast will also include all the queen’s grandchildren and their spouses. In addition to the Sussex will be Princess Beatrice and her husband Edo, Princess Eugenie and the children of her husband Jack and Anne, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, and their families. Meghan has not seen any family members since she and her husband bitterly left as members of the royal family and moved to North America in early 2020, while the prince only saw them very briefly. at the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh last year.

The last public occasion the Sussex attended together in the UK was the annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in March 2020, when the atmosphere could not have been more uncomfortable. William and Kate practically left Harry and Meghan blank that day, leaving Prince Edward and Sophie to try to keep the peace.

Fortunately, William, who has been most affected by his brother’s actions and has struggled to hide his evil, will not be forced to greet the couple in public. And Kate proved to be an admirable peacemaker when she bothered to break the ice and talk to Harry after the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral.

Harry and Meghan stay with their children at their home in Windsor, Frogmore Cottage. He had always been expected to join the congregation for tomorrow’s Thanksgiving service for the Queen’s 70th reign in St. Paul’s Cathedral, but his involvement with Trooping is considered an olive branch. His Majesty’s addition.
