Here’s what we know most about the moments before and during the deadly school massacre.

1) At around 11 a.m. Tuesday, the gunman, Salvador Ramos, 18, sent a private message on Facebook saying he would shoot his grandmother, authorities said. The high school dropout girl lived with her in a house about two blocks from Robb Elementary School.

Ramos proceeded to shoot his grandmother, Sally Gonzales, 66, in the face. Bleeding, he ran across to a neighbor’s house and called police.

2) Ramos drove away from his grandmother’s truck and crashed into a ditch outside the school. He grabbed his AR-15-style semi-automatic rifle and fired at two people outside a nearby funeral home. They fled unharmed.

Ramos was wearing tactical clothing.

3) Initially, officials said an armed school district officer approached Ramos as he entered the school, but did not have time to react when Ramos quickly entered the building. However, DPS South Texas Regional Director Victor Escalon said Thursday that the officer did not see Ramos as he hurried into the school, that the officer entered the building minutes after Ramos was gone. inside.

After entering the school, Ramos charged against a classroom and barricaded himself inside closing the door. It is unclear at what point he started shooting children and teachers.

4) Meanwhile, desperate parents and spectators gathered outside the school. A police officer nailed a person to the ground, according to the video on social media.

“What (insult) are you doing to him?” a spectator called police while the woman was trapped under the officer.

Another agent stood nearby and ordered the spectators not to intervene. He grabbed a Taser in his hand and told them to stay behind.

5) It took 40 minutes to an hour before a special tactical team of U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents, known as BORTAC, was forcefully introduced into the classroom.

A BORTAC agent shot and killed Ramos. Three officers were injured in the shooting, but were in good condition on Wednesday, officials said.
