“Hourly queues” at Bristol Airport as the chaos of medium-term travel continues

Bristol Airport is experiencing “queuing hours” at its departure gates as the airport prepares for the busiest travel week since 2019.

Approximately 300,000 customers are expected to arrive and leave Bristol during the middle of the period and the Platinum Jubilee period, the airport said, with a figure expected to reach more than 30,000 per day.

Some passengers have reported arriving on their flights more than five hours early, only to be greeted by large queues meandering outside the airport terminal, even at 5am.

A customer, who arrived at the airport when the sun rose this morning, went to social media to report that it took more than two hours to clear the check-in and security, despite the first hour.

Bristol Airport has apologized to customers for the long waiting times, saying they are “working hard” to offer travelers a safe journey.

“Bristol Airport’s team and business partners are working hard to ensure that all customers have an easy and smooth journey through the terminal,” airport spokesman Jacqui Mills told the Telegraph.

“We regret that there were longer safe queues this morning, maximum queue time 90 minutes.”
