Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance on stage with rock guitarist Jeff Beck in Sheffield on Sunday night.
Singing and playing guitar, Depp performed versions of Jimi Hendrix’s Little Wing and Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On, as well as John Lennon’s song Isolation, which he and Beck recorded a studio version in 2020.
The lawsuit comes amid a major U.S. lawsuit against former wife Amber Heard, filed by Depp, who accuses Heard of defamation after publishing an article in the Washington Post referring to herself as a victim of domestic abuse. . Heard has countered.
For seven weeks, a jury heard allegations of abuse by both parties against each other and will deliberate on a verdict after meeting again on May 31.
Depp has long been involved in rock music, including with his Hollywood Vampires supergroup alongside Alice Cooper and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry. In 2015 they recorded with Paul McCartney, and Depp appears in the video for McCartney’s song My Valentine, also playing guitar. Images of this performance, which have been part of McCartney’s live set since 2013, were projected during McCartney’s US tour in the middle of the Depp trial, although McCartney did not comment on the case.
Releasing his version of Isolation in 2020, Beck said: “Johnny and I have been working on music together for some time and we recorded this song during our stay in the studio last year … You’ll hear more about Johnny and me in no time. ”There have been no more releases from Isolation, however.
