The representative allegedly offered the man money to be with the governor and say that the US does not need stronger weapons laws, and the user claimed that the representative threatened him and his family not to follow the plan.

But there was a problem. The whole story seems to have been totally invented. After an Abbott spokesman said the allegations were “completely false,” the My Cancer Journey account holder insisted that his account had been hacked and that he had no relatives in Uvalde.

“Someone somehow got into my account,” he said. The account was completely deleted for a while on Friday.

However, this did not stop several journalists from falling in love with the story of the account, which made several other statements skeptical. These claims and other information about the account were documented by journalist Andy Ngo in his own Twitter thread.

They included a 2020 tweet in which the man said a Washington state sheriff had killed another of his nephews and was the recipient of a purple heart. The man, who also claimed to be a prime minister on 9/11, has also boasted of firing on cars with a Trump flag, among other anti-Trump messages.

Abbott’s office denied the report in a statement to the media, saying it was clearly false.

Far-left political commentator Keith Olbermann was one of several to intervene in the man’s tweets.

“The nightmare continues. The DOJ has to sue Texas Gov. @ GregAbbott_TX’s office for embezzlement and intimidation. Read this thread. I’m speechless,” Olbermann tweeted.
