LIVE: “Possible explosive device” found when people evacuated from homes in Salford

People have been evacuated from their homes following the discovery of a “possible explosive device” on a Salford property, police said. The potential device was found in a Neville Drive home in Irlam during a raid in connection with an assault on Monday (June 13th), GMP added.

Police and the bomb disposal unit are at the scene. A cordon has been lifted, with neighbors evacuated as a “safety precaution.”

A GMP spokesman said: “Officers attended an address on Neville Drive, Irlam this morning (June 13, 2022), to execute an order in connection with an assault.

“While assisting management, officers discovered a potential explosive device. The EOD is currently on track to evaluate the device.

“As a security measure, a 100-meter cordon has been placed around the property and neighboring farms have been evacuated.”
