Withdrawal of live prawns from Tri-Star Seafood Supply Ltd. due to possible norovirus contamination.

The Food Inspection Agency of Canada says the seafood was sold in BC, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario, and may have been distributed to other provinces and territories as well.

They must be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

The CFIA says there have been diseases related to shrimp consumption.

The withdrawal was initiated as part of an investigation into an outbreak of foodborne illness, and the CFIA says there may be other product withdrawals.

The agency notes that people with norovirus disease usually develop symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and stomach cramps within 24 to 48 hours, but possibly as early as 12 hours.
