A large submarine volcano has erupted in the depths of the Pacific Ocean sending water feathers to the surface seen from outer space.
NASA satellite images captured the magnificent eruption of the Kavachi volcano, nicknamed Sharkano.
A large plume of discolored water can be seen emerging from the submarine volcano, located 15 miles south of Vangunu Island.
Kavachi got its name from the sea creatures that can live in their harsh conditions and live in the depths of the ocean between fragments of floating rock.
Scientists became familiar with the volcano in a 2015 ocean study.
Their findings revealed how fish and sharks can survive the hot, acidic, sulfur-infused waters surrounding the volcano.
Two species of sharks, the Silky and Scalloped Hammer, were filmed swimming in the submerged crater during an excursion.

Experts believe that sharks may have mutated to cope with extreme conditions.
Their survival raised “new questions about the ecology of active underwater volcanoes and the extreme environments in which large marine animals may exist,” they commented in a 2016 article entitled Exploring the Sharkano.

The volcano previously entered an eruptive phase in October 2021, according to the Smithsonian’s global volcanism program.
Other major eruptions in Kavachi before the current activity were observed in 2007 and 2014, according to the space agency.
