An estimated 500,000 motorists in a state will be eligible for a $ 750 cash bonus as part of the government’s new toll road initiative to provide relief to homes amid rising cost pressures of life.
New South Wales motorists could receive up to $ 750 in cash in their pockets as part of a review of state government tolls to relieve families struggling with rising cost of living pressures.
An estimated 500,000 drivers will receive quarterly discounts on their toll bill, which NSW Treasurer Matt Kean will describe in the NSW 2022-23 budget later this month.
As of July 1, motorists who spend at least $ 375 on tolls each year will be entitled to a 40% rebate or $ 150 savings on home spending.
Drivers can receive up to $ 750 a year once they reach $ 1,875 in tolls.

West Sydney residents, who are most affected by tolls, are expected to benefit the most from the shock, with twice the amount of people being able to receive cash.
The new scheme will replace the existing initiative that offers drivers half the price or free tuition if they spent a certain amount on tolls each year.
Drivers must spend at least $ 877 before receiving a 50% discount on their annual registration and $ 1,462 before being eligible for free registration.
The program will run for two years as the government completes and implements long-term toll reforms.
Motorists eligible for a cash return must register with Service NSW where they can claim the discount once it becomes operational on July 1st.
Prime Minister Dominic Perrottet said the $ 520 million “fair” program “will provide more relief, more often to more motorists.”
“We know that many families in our state after two difficult years of COVID have been making it difficult,” he said Tuesday morning.
“” Our strong economy means we can ease the pressures of the cost of living by making sure that there will be many more drivers eligible for relief, especially in the western, northwestern and southwestern areas of Sydney.
“We are supporting everyone.”
Kean added that it was a “small price to pay” to make roads more affordable for residents across the state.
“These discounts will improve the affordability of toll road travel for individuals, families and small businesses,” said the NSW Treasurer.
“The tolls allow the main new and improved motorways to be delivered years and even decades before. This package will return the money to motorists’ bank accounts to help ease the cost of living. “
NSW opposition leader Chris Minns argued it was “too little too late”.
“Let’s be clear that this is a band-aid solution for a broken system that Dominic Perrottet created,” he said.
“Their pride has been swallowed up for one reason and only one: there are elections around the corner.
“NSW Labor will now work hard to stop the Perrottet government’s distance-based toll plan for West Sydney that will punish you for living further away from the CBD.”
