Obi-Wan Kenobi Final recap: Was there a “final” showdown? In addition, a familiar face appears: qualify it!

After the heroes evaded Vader’s attack on Jabiim, the late Obi-Wan Kenobi found the rebels running out of time, with the Empire hot in its tail and its shields dwindling.

Realizing this, Obi-Wan decides to buy everyone some time for repairs by confronting Vader again, even if this could lead to his own death. Saying goodbye to Leia, Kenobi gives the cover (empty, sorry!) To young Princess Tala and promises to return.

In Tatooine, Owen and Beru receive a warning from a friend whom Reva made on the embers that she has gone to them. Owen warns Luke to stay and hide as the Tuskens attack farms in the area again. But if something goes wrong, he has to run.

Obi-Wan tries to communicate with Qui-Gon once again, saying that he must face Anakin. Whether he dies or his former apprentice dies, that is over today. Roken is there to say goodbye, reminding the Clone Wars general not to do this. But that’s between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader, so there’s no going back.

The Grand Inquisitor observes that an escape boat leaves the transport with a person on board, but urges Vader to continue pursuing the rebels, as this is his chance to eliminate them completely. Vader, however, is focused on Kenobi and orders his ship ready. As Obi-Wan prepares for what he thinks will be his final showdown (of course, they’ll meet again in A New Hope), he finds Lola in his pocket. Leia must have hidden the droid there while hugging her. Smart girl.

After Obi-Wan’s ship to an arid moon, Vader is reunited with his former master. Obi-Wan draws his blue lightsaber and utters the same thing he said to Anakin just before his battle at Mustafar at the end of The Revenge of the Sith: “I will do what I have to do.”

“Then you will die,” Vader replies. They face each other again.

At the same time, Reva arrives at Owen’s farm chasing Luke. Owen and Beru prepared and placed, which she deflects, her braids usually clean now loose and slightly cluttered after Vader dismisses her unceremoniously. Luke runs out, and the former inquisitor chases the boy to the dunes.

Back on the moon, Vader points out that Obi-Wan’s strength has returned, but “the weakness still continues.” Then the Sith lord uses the Force to bury Obi-Wan under some rocks he has thrown, saying, “Did you really think you could defeat me? You have failed, Master.”

But Vader did not kill his former master with the sinking. Rather, Obi-Wan uses Force to prevent the rocks from crushing him. Driven by the memories of both Luke and Leia, he rejects them and walks away, then approaches Vader. His lightsaber battle continues.

Obi-Wan fights with everything he has and finally cuts Vader’s helmet with his lightsaber. The movement weakens Vader, who breathes air with half of his face exposed. That’s when Kenobi sees his padawan’s face for the first time in years. “Anakin,” he shouts.

Through his damaged vocoder — we hear Hayden Christensen’s distorted voice — Vader tells his former teacher that Anakin is gone. I am what is left. “Obi Wan tells him that he regrets what happened in the past, but Vader rules it out.

“I’m not your failure. You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker, I did,” he points out, before promising to destroy Obi-Wan in the same way. Realizing that his friend is really dead, Kenobi says to the broken man in front of him, “Goodbye, Darth,” and leaves. Through an enraged voice, a weakened Vader shouts “Obi-Wan!” and sinks to his knees, leaning against the rocks.

Obi-Wan hears Luke in danger and runs after the boy in his ship. In Tatooine, Luke has fallen, after being forced out of a rocky ledge by Reva, and sits unconscious. When Reva approaches him to kill, he is seen at his age, and the memories of Anakin killing young people in the Jedi temple come running back. With his lightsaber raised, he is now in Anakin’s position.

Obi-Wan lands on Owen’s farm and sees both Owen and Beru yelling at Luke, and prepares to look for him in the dunes. But Reva appears in the distance, returning with the unconscious child in her arms. She informs Obi-Wan that she was unable to leave Vader’s offspring and as such failed her dead friends. Obi-Wan does not see it that way, insisting that he honored them and has given them peace. When Reva asks him if he has become Darth Vader, Obi-Wan says no, that he has decided not to. And who she is now is totally up to her. La Reva places her Inquisitor lightsaber on the sand and Obi-Wan declares them both free.

In Mustafar, Vader talks to Darth Sidious through a hologram. Sidious points out that Lord Vader looks agitated and wonders if his old master’s thoughts have weakened him. Vader insists that Kenobi now means nothing, and that he only serves his new master. Make an indication of “Imperial March” as Vader sits on his solitary throne.

Back in Alderaan, Leia dresses in a change: the cover of Tala. Both Queen Breha and Bail Organa love the new look, and Leia is ready to become a leader, with some changes, of course. All three are greeted by an arriving Obi-Wan, who offers his help to the Organa if they ever need it.

He also makes it clear to Leia that he doesn’t know her parents. “Princess Leia Organa, you are wise, discerning, kind. These are qualities that come from your mother, ”he says. “But you’re also passionate and fearless … honest. These are your father’s gifts. They were both exceptional people who had an exceptional daughter.”

Kenobi would like to be able to divulge more, but Leia says she shouldn’t. When asked if he will ever see him again, Kenobi tells him that he may need the help of a “tired old man.” However, no one should know, or that could endanger them both. Leia says goodbye to him and Obi-Wan offers her these familiar farewell words: “May the Force be with you.”

After returning to Tatooine, Obi-Wan wears his ancient Jedi robes as he packs up the cave where he had been living for a decade. With an eopie on the Larses farm, the former Jedi Master is invited by Owen to finally meet Luke. “Hello, here …” he says to the boy.

Shortly afterwards, Obi-Wan walks through the desert and sees his master Qui-Gon Jinn as a ghost of the Force. (Hey, Liam Neeson!) He was beginning to think that his old teacher would never come.

“I’ve always been here, Obi-Wan,” Qui-Gon tells him. “You weren’t ready to see him.” But now that Kenobi is ready, they have a way to go …
