Pennsylvania teenager charged with murder after video confession on Instagram

Police in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, arrested a 16-year-old boy Friday after he allegedly killed a girl and took to Instagram to ask for help disposing of the body.

Bensalem police said 9-1-1 operators received a call from the parents of a concerned party who said their daughter received an Instagram video chat from a 16-year-old acquaintance, later identified as 16-year-old Joshua Cooper, who said he just killed someone.

In the video, Cooper rotated the video footage to show a person’s legs covered in blood, before calling for help to remove the body.

Police said they were tipped off that Cooper lived at the Top of the Ridge Trailer Park in Bensalem and officers went to check the property.

When officers arrived, police said, a young boy ran out the back of the trailer.

Officers then entered the mobile home and found a dead girl on the bathroom floor with a gunshot wound.

Police said they also noted that “substantial steps” were taken to clean up the scene.

Additional officers searched for Cooper, and he was located and arrested a short time later.

Cooper was charged as an adult with criminal homicide, possession of instruments of crime and tampering with evidence.

He was arraigned in Bucks County District Court, where Judge Stacy Wertman denied the suspect bail and sent him to the Edison Juvenile Detention Center.
