Prince George and Princess Charlotte join William and Kate for platinum jubilee visit to Wales

After stealing the show from Trooping the Color, the Cambridge kids came out strong again on Saturday.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte made a surprise appearance on Saturday, joining their parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Wales for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Arriving at Cardiff Castle for the first engagement of the day, the eight-year-old prince and seven-year-old princess shook hands obediently as they introduced themselves to the people.

They then gathered with their parents on a walk, chatting with those who had been waiting to see them, and gathered bouquets of flowers from the supporters.

The family met with performers involved in a special platinum jubilee concert taking place on the castle grounds later that afternoon, including Bonnie Tyler and Owain Wynn Evans, West End performers, Rubicon Dance Company and Wales Youth Choir for Good.

William and Kate also spoke with crew members about the technical side of the production, such as lighting, sound and visual effects, before helping with some of the final preparations for the concert.

The Cardiff Castle Concert, hosted by Aled Jones and Shan Cothi, will feature live performances by some of Wales’ best-known singers and entertainers, along with choirs, bands and orchestras.

But everything will end in time for the partygoers gathered to see the concert of the Festa al Palau on the big screens installed on the lawn of the Castle.

Prince Charles will also take to the stage at Buckingham Palace to pay tribute to his mother.
