The Broncos fans booed Payne Haas in stunning scenes at Suncorp Stadium in his first match since demanding the club’s release, and the boom’s help revealed that he had left him “arranged”.
“Overall, I’m not one of those people who gets me upset, but when I heard the boos coming out tonight (and) when I got on the ball it made me a little bit,” Haas told Nine after the game.
“But I had to settle down and stay in the game and do my job for the team.”
Haas received the first blow of the game against the Titans on Friday night and the Brisbane fans wereted no time in letting the star know how he felt.
Strong explosions rang out around the stadium in what must have been one of the first times in history that a crowd of Broncos has turned against one of their own.
“There’s Payne Haas and he hears this crowd, it’s his home fans who let him know they don’t like what’s happened in the last 24 hours,” Dan Ginnane told Fox League.

A crowd of more than 30,000 people booed the star from the moment his face appeared on the big screen during the pre-match warm-up. He continued non-stop throughout the match, although Haas ran 128 meters, 5 line breaks and 26 tackles in a compromised performance.

The bitter response from the crowd came after Haas management dropped a bomb calling for an immediate release Wednesday night, a move the club flatly rejected.
The 22-year-old is signing until the end of 2024 with a deal for about $ 800,000 a season.

“I’m pretty sure we can sit down with Payne’s leadership and work something out,” Walters said. “We will not let him go. He has been an important part of our club for a few years and I think he will be an important part in the future.
“He has been a wonderful player for us and is the best accessory in the game, so we don’t want to miss the best accessory in the game.
“It’s been 24-48 hours, so we’ll sit down with Payne and his management and have a good discussion.
“We want to sit down with your management team and work something out. That’s what we’re going to have to do in the coming weeks.
“He showed his commitment tonight to play for this club and, even if he has a Broncos shirt, he will continue to do so.”
Walters also stated that he had no intention of leaving Haas to reserve the note while the saga drags on.
