Connor McDavid is doing things no one in hockey has ever done in the playoffs, and with another epic performance Tuesday at home, he and the Edmonton Oilers could push the Calgary Flames to the brink of elimination.
McDavid has nine multipoint games across 10 playoff competitions, entering Game 4 tonight with the Oilers leading the Flames two games to one in the series.

Money line analysis
The Edmonton Oilers face the game 4 Tuesday night with a 2-1 lead in their second-round series against provincial rivals the Calgary Flames. Calgary came in as the favorites in the series, but Edmonton has had zero trouble scoring, with 15 goals in three games, while showing that no deficit is too big.
Even in their 9-6 loss in Game 1, Edmonton bounced back from a 6-2 loss to tie the game at six before finally losing. The Oilers also returned to Game 2 after losing 3-1 in the second period. It is safe to say that the Oilers do not lack confidence.
Game 3 could have been a bloodbath if it weren’t for Jacob Markstrom’s first 21 save period, but the Oilers still won convincingly thanks to a natural hat-trick from Evander Kane. But another has given Calgary the biggest problems and Connor McDavid may be living without rent at the head of the Flames.

Through 10 playoff games, McDavid has nine multi-point games while accumulating nine points in the second round alone. The best player in the world has increased the situation and there is not enough talent in the Flames to stop him, especially with the Oilers getting the last change.
McDavid’s dominance has made a handful of other Oilers successful in this series, including Zach Hyman (four goals), Evander Kane (four points) and Leon Draisaitl (10 points). Markstrom on the other hand, had a terrible day.
“We all know we weren’t good enough against him,” added Calgary defender Rasmus Andersson after the third game loss. “We let it dry out. How many weird rushes have they had today, especially in the second period? And they put capital letters. It wasn’t good enough and it cost us.”
The Oilers have scored 15 goals in three games and have done so with a power play that has gone just 1 of 15 in the series. Edmonton closed out as the underdog (-105) in the 3rd game, but officials have had a slight change of heart after their most dominant game on Sunday. The 15-point adjustment in some books may seem like an exaggerated reaction, but with how good the 97 is playing right now, it’s worth it in our minds.
The Flames have not shown that they can play behind in this series and Mike Smith, who received a strong blow in Game 3 and managed to get back, should continue to keep the Oilers in the series. Edmonton has outscored its opponents 19-10 so far at home in the postseason and with the Oilers having the last change tonight, McDavid will get all the advantageous tackles it can handle. If the Oilers’ PP gets underway, it could be a quick battle for Alberta for the Flames, No. 2.

Together, the two clubs have 9-11 O / U in the postseason. The Over hit in Games 1 and 2, while Smith and Markstrom certainly did their part in keeping Game 3 below seven goals. However, there are some question marks for both tenders that will be submitted tonight.
Smith was hit by Milan Lucic in the third period on Sunday, which probably scared many in Edmonton, as the 40-year-old goalkeeper has struggled with some injuries this season. Smith has seen a lot of shots in the postseason and leads the playoffs in 60-to-38 shots. If he’s not leading his game tonight, he could give up three or more goals, which is something he has done. five of his 10 postseason games.

Markstrom entered the second round with a 1.53 GAA and a .933 SV%, but amassed those numbers against the worst offensive playoff team in the Dallas Stars. During the first three games of the series with Edmonton, the Vezina finalist has a GAA of 4.40 and an SV of 0.869%. The Swedish goalkeeper also battled his provincial rivals during the regular season as he put up 2-2 SU with a GAA of 3.54 and an SV of sub-.900%.
This series has had a total of 28 goals and, yes, 16 of them were scored in the first game, but most of the goals have been quite repeatable, as the production of 5 against 5 has been intense.
Altogether, the two clubs are only 3 out of 27 in the power play, which means 89% of the goals in the series have come strong, on penalties or on the empty net.
McDavid is unstoppable, with nine points in the series alone, while Hyman, Kane and Draisaitl have added 19 points in the first three games of the series. Calgary is struggling, and if they want to avoid elimination, they will have to match Edmonton’s attack.
