The body of a woman has been found in the bed of a stream west of Sydney, believed to be in the late 18-year-old Merna Kasha.
Emergency services were called to Green Valley Creek, next to Pitt Street in Canley Heights, around 2 a.m. Saturday, after it was reported that a body had been found.
Officers established the crime scene and began a forensic examination of the surrounding area.

The body has not yet been formally identified, but it is believed to be Merna Kasha, an 18-year-old girl from Fairfield, who has been missing for more than a month.
The investigation is ongoing and an autopsy will be performed to confirm his identity and determine the causes of death.
Merna Kasha was last seen when a family member dropped her off at a residential address on Kihilla Street in Fairfield Heights on April 28.
Police believe he contacted his family a few days later, but they have not seen him since.

Police said during the search for the missing girl that she could be distinguished by perforations in her lips, nose and cheek, as well as a tattoo in the middle of her back.
Detectives have not yet confirmed whether they are treating his death as a suspect.
