The heartbroken family of a man killed in a terror accident on the M61 has paid tribute to the “genuine and affectionate father”. Peter Howorth died sadly after being rushed to hospital after the collapse near Bolton last Friday (May 27).
Officers were called to the M61 heading north to report that an Audi A5 had been involved in a collision around 5:25 p.m. Emergency services responded and Peter, 32, was treated at the scene before being rushed to hospital, where he later died.
In a statement issued this morning (June 1), Peter’s family said: “Peter was loved by all who knew him. A genuine, loving boy with a big heart who loved life.

“A wonderful father, fiancé, son, brother and uncle. His family and friends are more than devastated, words cannot express how much he will be missed by so many people. “
Officers from the Greater Manchester Police Collision Investigation Unit are continuing to investigate the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact us.
