The Team Fortress 2 community joins in for a “peaceful protest” for # SaveTF2

UPDATE 5/27/22: Valve has acknowledged yesterday’s # SaveTF2 fan protest, with the aim of highlighting the boat status of Team Fortress 2.

Writing for the first time in almost two years through Team Fortress 2’s official account, Valve said it had listened to fans and promised action, though it didn’t specify anything more specific than that.

“TF2 community, we hear you!” wrote Valve. “We love this game and we know you too. We see how big this problem has become and we’re working to make it better.”

Well, it’s a start.

TF2 community, we listen to you! We love this game and know you too. We see how big this problem has become and we work to make it better.

ORIGINAL STORY 5/26/22: The Team Fortress 2 community aims to make their voices heard today by making a “peaceful protest” designed to make the state of the game known.

A reddit post announcing the protest, which has the support of numerous high-profile TF2 content creators, is now at the forefront of TF2’s subreddit, with more than 2,000 comments and 1,000 (paid) Reddit awards.

The protest is aimed at making # SaveTF2 a worldwide trend on Twitter and other social media today, May 26, from 6pm UK time. Success, say the organizers of the protest, means showing how the game of aging still retains its popularity.

Team Fortress 2 game of the time.

“TF2 means a lot to many! The community has been through a lot,” the post says. “TF2 is in an unplayable state. The creators have decided to unite and share our love and care for TF2! Will you join us?”

Protest organizers have called on fans to keep things positive and not send hatred to developer Valve.

“This is going to be a VERY peaceful protest just to remind everyone that we LOVE this game, please don’t hate Valve, etc.,” organizer Shork_Pink wrote on reddit. “We will represent the TF2 COMMUNITY, so let’s do it right!”

So what about TF2? Well, there’s the long, long, long, long, long problem with the robots in the game and Valve’s inability to keep them under control. But fans are also missing out on updates that Valve used to bring to the game, rather than hats, anyway, which have been remarkably absent in recent years.

We’ll be watching and see if Valve responds.
