The place
Semi-detached house with more than two beds and four bathrooms in a converted church bell tower. It was built in 1913 as the Anglican Church of St. Mary the Virgin.
In 2016, architect Asen Vitko converted the church into 17 townhouses. This belfry unit was designed and inhabited by Vitko, who kept the original oak staircase intact. This is the first time the unit has been put up for sale.
This belfry includes a private lift, an underground parking space and a separate closet.
The building is located on a quieter side street, just a five-minute walk from Dufferin and Ossington Underground Stations. Another plus: it’s just around the corner from Paradise Theater and Bloordale’s cafes and shops.
The route:
The kitchen is located on the main floor of the house. It has a Wolf kitchen and a Sub-Zero refrigerator:
There is a small patio area on the ground floor which is accessed from the kitchen. Above the sink, a stone plaque from the church school can also be seen:

The second floor has a small sleeping area:
Another view of the sleeping corner, which has a custom-made bed (it’s about the size of a double). It also includes an original church window:
The third floor of the house is set up as an office, with a custom desk running all over the wall. The wooden back door opens onto the private elevator. And the art shelf at the back is a reused church pew:
The master bedroom is on the fourth floor. There is less natural light at this level, which makes it more conducive to sleep:
The master bedroom has a wardrobe area with built-in drawers:

The fifth floor is where the church bell originally hung. It is currently set up as a living room:

The basement has a larger bathroom area with a bathtub. There is a skylight above the bathtub, which opens onto the kitchen patio area:
The basement also has a storage room with space to hang a bike:
