Aston Villa have reached an agreement to sign defender Diego Carlos from Sevilla. The 29-year-old Brazilian midfielder will now travel to England to receive a medical consultation and resolve personal terms with a £ 26 million transfer.
Carlos, who played 136 games for Sevilla, helping them win the Europa League 2020, had been in talks with Newcastle during the January period, but no agreement could be reached.
“Aston Villa can confirm that the club has reached an agreement with Sevilla FC for the transfer of Diego Carlos for an undisclosed fee,” Villa said in a statement. “The player will travel to England in the next few hours to complete a medical examination and complete personal terms.”

The 21-year-old international, who worked with Leeds head coach Jesse Marsch during his time at the helm of the Austrian club, will formally complete his transfer to Elland Road for an undisclosed fee on 1 July.
A 21-year-old Leeds will join for an undisclosed fee in a five-year contract, which will run until the summer of 2027. Aaronson played 41 games in all competitions with Salzburg last season, winning the Bundesliga and the Austrian Cup for the second season in a row. He has 18 senior internationals and has scored five goals when the United States qualified for this year’s World Cup final in Qatar.
