As Erik ten Hag begins to look at his team this summer, there will be no shortage of areas that need to be addressed in one way or another.
The recent season has created endless problems that need urgent attention at Manchester United. What looked like a team ready to mount a proper title challenge at the start of the season has been horribly exposed by the most disastrous campaigns.
For the new club manager, it will be difficult to know exactly where to start. When you look at his side, you will see many positions that need to be strengthened, and it is clear that he already has a vision for some of them.

Frenkie de Jong and Jurrien Timber, two well-known faces of Ten Hag since their time at Ajax, have been identified as ideal options for midfield and defense, which have long been problematic areas. But there is another area that needs to be addressed.
There have been many attempts to solve the problem that has arisen on the right, but so far none has really solved it. Jadon Sancho was added to become United’s next star in that position, but ended up gravitating to the left.
The problem was exacerbated by the expulsion of Mason Greenwood. Since then, Marcus Rashford has not been able to rediscover his form on this side and, although Anthony Elanga has acted admirably, too much expectation has been placed on his young shoulders.
The young Swede will have much-needed time to recover before returning to action in the pre-season. He will then be joined by two of his former academy classmates, who could be wildcard options for Ten Hag.
It is fair to say that Facundo Pellistri and Amad have not finished lighting the world on loan this season. The first one is starting to be difficult for Alaves, as is the second for Rangers, but both will probably appear during the pre-season, especially with so much work to do at United.
With so many options already available, the right wing is likely to be lower in the hierarchical order of transfer than other areas, especially with Ten Hag having his eyes set on the two Ajax stars mentioned. Therefore, the new head of United can review his options during the preseason, with Pellistri and Amad throwing his hat in the ring.

Although his move to Scotland did not go as planned, great things are expected from Amad, as United have won the race by signing him after their move to Atalanta. As for Pellistri, although Alavés may not have seen enough to give his team a regular place, his team has clearly seen something, and has shone in Uruguay’s recent friendly against Mexico.
The pair may not get their approval when it comes to the new Premier League season and their immediate future may be at stake again, but they will still have a chance to impress this summer. With United in desperate need of a solution to their right-wing problem, there is an opportunity for them to integrate into Ten Hag’s plans.
