Police are looking for a charred house in search of clues after a large fire that killed two people in their 70s in the early hours of the morning.
Emergency services were called to Glendenning, west of Sydney, at 4:45 a.m., and found the house on a well-lit floor and the roof collapsed.
They managed to get a 74-year-old woman out of the house. Paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on her, but she could not be resuscitated.

Once the smoke was removed, emergency workers also found the body of a 77-year-old man.
Two nearby residents said it was a “great loss to the community.”
“It’s very sad to hear this news,” one woman said.
“It is a great loss to the community. It is terrible, shocking [event] for Glendenning.

Police have established the crime scene and the causes of the fire are being investigated.
Fire and Rescue Superintendent Adam Dewberry said crews arrived to find “a strong fire” surrounding the house.

“Firefighters rescued an occupant from the blaze in a blaze and handed him over to paramedics,” Dewberry said.
“Unfortunately, the person who was rescued by firefighters could not be resurrected. Once the smoke and heat were removed from the property, firefighters found a second person.
“Police and firefighters are investigating the cause and origin of this fire. It is a developing incident. It is a tragedy.”
Dewberry reminded residents to make sure they had smoke alarms in operation.
