Two police officers accused of making or distributing indecent images of a child

Two police officers on duty in Manchester have been charged with making or distributing an indecent image of a child. Cameron Barker, 26, and James Williams, 39, have been suspended pending criminal proceedings, GMP said.

They have been charged in connection with an image allegedly shared. They will appear in the Tameside Magistrate’s Court on July 14.

The body said they have been suspended by the Sub-Directorate of Professional Standards pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings.

A spokesman said: “Cameron Barker (26) and James Williams (39), both Manchester City police officers, will appear in Tameside Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 14 July on charges of the crime.

“Both officers have been suspended by our Professional Standards Branch pending the outcome of criminal proceedings and any subsequent misconduct hearings.”
