The body of a man recovered from the recreational area of ​​Shuswap Falls east of Lumby was found on a steep embankment.

North Okanagan RCMP spokesman Const. Chris Terleski says that shortly after 6pm on Saturday afternoon, police received a request to help locate a man who was camping in the Lumby area.

The man’s vehicle and trailer were found near Shuswap Falls.

With the help of a police dog team, the man was found dead on a steep embankment, Terleski says.

“Due to the complexity of the terrain, Vernon Search and Rescue was called in to provide assistance in recovering the man’s body,” he added.

No crime is suspected, and the BC Forensic Service is conducting its own investigation to determine how, where, when and by what means the deceased arrived at his unexpected death.

The recovery effort required a rope team on steep terrain.

VSAR members were assisted by the Lumby Fire Department.

Search manager Trevor Honigman would only say the mission was a recovery of the body and postponed any comments to the North Okanagan RCMP.

The location of the body was not disclosed.
