Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero almost hit the blows Friday afternoon during official weights for their lightweight title fight this weekend on Showtime pay-per-view (PPV) from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Both lightweights stepped on the scales and weighed in successfully to make their title fight official. As usual, the two boxers let themselves be put on by the attending media. Davis started flexing for the cameras while Romero stepped forward to do the same. “Tank” didn’t like to put one on, so he decided to push Romero from behind and get him off the stage. Luckily, Romero was able to land without injury.
As you’d expect, Romero quickly returned to the stage and tried to face Davis. There was a short melee, but security was in front and in the center to break it and prevent any punches.

Davis, 27, is widely regarded as one of today’s best boxing fighters. The Baltimore native has set an unbeaten record of 26-0 while capturing the AMB’s super featherweight, lightweight and super lightweight titles for the past four years. Davis has also recorded 24 knockouts along the way, making him one of the best finalists the sport has to offer.
Romero, 26, is also undefeated with a 14-0 record since becoming a professional in 2016. He has recorded 12 knockouts in his career and has held the interim AMB lightweight title since 2020. until August 2021. Romero will be a +500 underdog in his main event. clash with Davis, but has the ability to turn him into a dogfight.
