Gray’s report reveals more details about some of the No. 10 festivities, including the fact that an attendee left Downing Street until 4:20 p.m. the night the staff celebrated the eve of Prince Philip’s funeral.
The report also appears to reveal that staff members thought their behavior was inappropriate at the time. Several messages from report staff indicate that Mr. Reynolds is involved in organizing the events.
In an email about a staff member’s departure party, a 10th employee wrote: “Hello Martin and Stuart [Glassborow] I would like to make speeches tomorrow, when we have our drinks that are not drinks. What time are we planning our drinks? “
In a WhatsApp exchange between Lee Cain, Johnson’s former communications director, and Reynolds, Mr. Cain said staff could not arrange “some kind of party” for a staff member who was leaving.
“So you don’t say anything for [the official]”Mr. Reynolds replied.
Mr Cain said: “I think it’s your decision, my friend, not mine! But it obviously carries quite substantial communication risks.”
Mrs Gray’s report reveals that during the event, a staff member was ill and a fight broke out.
“The event lasted a few hours,” he said.
“There was excessive alcohol consumption by some individuals. One individual was ill. There was a small altercation between two other individuals.”
