Of the Coalition’s four main leadership positions, two are women.
Sussan Ley is the Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party and Perin Davey is the Deputy Leader of the National Party.
Between the two parties, there has never been a woman leader, and so far there have only been three MPs: Bridget McKenzie and Fiona Nash for the Nationals, and Julie Bishop for the Liberal Party.
Who is Susan Ley?

Mrs Ley was born in Nigeria and grew up in the United Arab Emirates before her family emigrated to Australia when she was 13 years old.
He now lives in Albury, NSW, where he is a sitting member of Farrer.
She has a degree in Economics, a Master’s in Taxation and a Master’s in Accounting, having started her university education when the first of her three children was one year old.
Ms. Ley also worked as an air traffic controller, commercial pilot, shearing cook and was in a livestock and dairy association for 17 years.
Prior to her election in 2001, she worked for the Australian Tax Office.
Ms. Ley has held a handful of positions in the Cabinet, serving as Minister of Portfolios such as Health, Sport and Care for the Elderly.
His most recent position was Minister of the Environment.
According to her profile on her website, she’s still a big flyer, she likes to ride a bike and she likes to “relax with a broken thread, usually a real criminal thriller.”

In a aforementioned interview with the Australian in 2015, Ms Ley said she added an additional S to her name when she was a young woman after entering numerology.
“If you added an‘ s ’it would have an incredibly exciting and interesting life and nothing would ever be boring,” he told the newspaper.
Who is Perin Davey?
Senator Davey was elected to the Senate in 2019.
Senator Davey grew up in Canberra, but now lives near Deniliquin, southwestern NSW.
He earned a postgraduate certificate in public relations from the University of South Queensland and worked as a cadet journalist for the Mudgee Guardian in the early 1990s while serving as an Army reservist.
According to his profile on the Nationals website, he also ran his own safari route hospitality business in Botswana.
Prior to being elected to the Senate in 2019, she held a number of consulting and advisory roles throughout her career, including as a water policy advisor to Murray Irrigation Limited.

She became the National Whip in the Senate later in 2019.
In her opening remarks to Parliament, she spoke about her family life on the farm with her two daughters and her husband, whom she met at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
What is the role of Bridget McKenzie?

Senator McKenzie used to be a National Party MP, but resigned and left the cabinet in 2020 after the so-called sports affair.
However, she was promoted back to the cabinet during a reshuffle last year.
She is now the leader of the Senate of the Nationals.
Matt Canavan is his assistant.
It is unclear who will lead the Liberal Party in the Senate.
Why two women deputies?
Simply put: the obvious candidates for leader were men, but both parties wanted to connect with female voters.
Called “the last man on his feet,” leading Liberal Peter Dutton ran unopposed to become the leader.
That’s because with the resignation of former Prime Minister Scott Morrison, the loss of his seat to Treasurer Josh Frydenberg and the retirement of former Health Minister Greg Hunt, he was really the only key figure left.
With one man in charge, there was a strong feeling in the Liberal ranks that the MP should be a woman after the election.
“The reality is that the [voters] We lost en masse were predominantly women, educated women, “said former Home Secretary Karen Andrews.
“They were unhappy with the Liberal Party and chose to take their vote elsewhere.”
Ms Andrews may have run for MP, but she said it was “unsustainable” for both the leader and the MP to come from the same state.
Bridget Archer, another well-known liberal figure, indicated that she was open to applying “potentially” for the position of deputy director.
It was a similar story for the Nationals.
In addition to Senator McKenzie, all the key figures — former leader Barnaby Joyce, former leader Michael McCormack, former MP David Littleproud, and hopeful leader Darren Chester — were men.
While acknowledging that he was unlikely to win the leadership contest, Chester said it was clear that nationals needed to connect better with younger, more female voters.
Election news:
Will this make women voters return to the Coalition?
Surely they expect it that way.
After being appointed deputy, Ms Ley said her party’s new leadership was determined to gain the trust of women.
“I don’t think women heard much of what we were saying. Maybe they didn’t think we were focusing on them and their lives,” she said.
“But again, a lot of women supported us and I’ve heard from a lot of these women.
“I don’t shy away from the fact that a lot of women didn’t support us and I want to have honest conversations and I don’t want to overlook anything and I want to listen to women directly.”
