It was a violent Father’s Day in Toronto after four separate shootings on Sunday left one man dead and seven more injured, including two teenagers.
Police were first called to an apartment building on Humber Boulevard near Weston Road and Black Creek Drive at 2:42 p.m. to report gunshots.
Toronto Police Const. Alex Li said officers located a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy who were suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to hospital in critical condition.
“It’s worrying, especially with the young people who were shot,” Li said.

He noted that up to 15 shots were heard in the area.
“We have already spoken to numerous witnesses. As you can see, there are many apartments behind us and townhouse complexes. We want to thank the residents of the community for coming and helping us with the initial information,” Li said.
“I want to reaffirm the fact that we have deployed all available resources in the area to keep the area safe.”
Police are investigating two more shootings in broad daylight
At around 4:17 p.m., Li was told that officers responded to another shooting at Amaranth Court, north of the Allen Road and Lawrence Avenue West area.

When they arrived, officers located a man with a gunshot wound. He told her that the victim was taken to hospital by an emergency run.
It is in critical condition.
Minutes later, at 4:24 p.m., police were called in for a third shooting more than two miles away at an apartment complex on Lotherton Pathway, near Caledonia Road and Lawrence Avenue West.
Upon arrival, officers located a man with no vital signs, Li said. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide investigators have not been called in to investigate the shooting.
A resident of the area described hearing six strong shots. He said, “They weren’t low caliber. They sounded like a high caliber, automatic because they were pop, pop, pop, pop, very loud pop.”

“We have specialized units, our arms and gang working group has been deployed, as well as our neighborhood agents are in the area,” Li said.
He noted that police do not yet have suspicious information about the three shootings.
“Any day is difficult, but especially Father’s Day, and many of us are parents. And that comes home,” Li said, calling the shootings “cheeky.”
“It’s a cause for concern. But we want to reassure the community that we have all the support that has been obtained with us, with the Toronto police and the victim services to help these families. And we will make sure that the community is feel safe and supported during this time “.
Fourth shooting at the meeting of unauthorized cars
At around 8pm, police responded to the fourth city shooting of the day in Scarborough.
Police said four people were shot at an unauthorized car meeting in the parking lot near McCowan Road and Milner Avenue, north of 401 Highway.

According to Toronto paramedics, one of the victims suffered serious and life-changing injuries, two others suffered serious injuries and a fourth victim sustained minor injuries.
Police said they were looking for a white Honda Civic that was seen coming out of the area.
“No one wants these things to happen in Toronto,” Duty Insp said. said Paul Krawczyk. “It’s a tough day when we have to get up and talk about these things on a day like Father’s Day. But really, any day this happens in Toronto is not a good day.”
