It is worth repeating this summary line over and over again.
It’s the kind of thing that would reduce one to a confusing mess of screams like, “Why would the WWE do everything possible to crush a promising push or actively discourage? any public reaction? ‘ Interestingly, it has happened. In fact, it has happened to ton throughout the history of the company.
Here’s the offer: Vince McMahon orders the shots for these parts. He has always done so. The WWE may have installed several other decision makers since the 1980s, but they are at McMahon’s mercy: it’s very much their way or the road. What Vince wants on screen goes to the screen, and what he doesn’t want … no.
This causes problems when an act starts to outdo the fans “wrongly”.
To put it bluntly, Vince apparently doesn’t like it when the heel characters light up in the crowd and make an organic baby-faced response. This is often overlooked if it is the other way around (Roman Reigns around 2015-2018, for example), which only makes things even more puzzling.
These are the tricks / characters / impulses that the WWE abandoned because they were too successful or worked despite the WWE. Don’t believe some of these stories …
DAAA-DUH! DAAA-DAAA-DAAA-DUH-DUH! DUH-DUH-DUH!
Anyone who has lived in the WWE in 2013 will remember it. The catchy theme of Fandango’s entry erupted overnight and turned Chris Jericho’s Random WrestleMania 29 random conqueror’s dance fool into a sudden sensation of the month that also dominated space on iTunes.
The promotion embraced this unexpected general attention at first. They introduced Fandango as a newcomer who could thrive sustainably on WWE charts, but then … lost interest. It’s almost as if Vinnie Mac had decided the melody was cool after setting it up as a Blackberry ringtone and listening to it non-stop.
As soon as he had landed in the collective consciousness of the fans, Dango got out of it.
It was supposed to be a heel, damn it! A concussion before being challenged for the intercontinental title damaged the dancer’s remaining momentum and Fandango’s brief moment in the sun ended long. He would never reach those heights again, in part because the WWE froze in accepting that the fans were funny.
