The new 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M2 chip is now available to order worldwide via Apple.com and the Apple Store app. First customer deliveries and in-store availability will begin on Friday, June 24, according to Apple.
Apple currently only accepts orders for the two standard configurations of the new 13-inch MacBook Pro, with updated custom settings not available right now. We will update this story when it changes.
The new 13-inch MacBook Pro has the same design as the previous model, including the Touch Bar and two Thunderbolt 3 ports. The only notable change is the M2 chip with an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. Apple said the M2 chip has a CPU up to 18% faster, a GPU 35% faster and a Neural Engine 40% faster compared to the M1 chip.
With the M2 chip, the 13-inch MacBook Pro can be configured with up to 24 GB of unified memory, while the M1 chip comes with 16 GB of memory. The laptop can also be equipped with up to 2 TB of SSD storage. Prices start at $ 1,299 in the United States, with silver and space gray options available.
Apple is also launching a redesigned MacBook Air with the M2 chip, which will be available next month. One notable difference between laptops is that the MacBook Air has a fanless design, while the MacBook Pro has an active cooling system to ensure sustained performance for users with more demanding workflows, according to Apple.
