An investigation is underway after 15 people were injured in a boat fire Saturday afternoon at a LaSalle County marina, according to Illinois State Police.
The fire was reported at approximately 4:26 p.m. at Spring Brook Marina, 623 W. River Dr. at Seneca, about 11 miles west of Morris. A total of 17 people were on board when the fire broke out, and 14 of the passengers were injured, according to police.
The video posted on social media showed that the boat in question was heavily surrounded by flames.
One person was flown to a local hospital with serious injuries. Thirteen more people on the boat were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. An employee of the marina also suffered non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
Additional details were not immediately available.
The incident is under investigation by the Illinois Conservation Police.
