A 16-year-old boy faces charges after threatening a student at Central Kings Rural High School in Cambridge, NS on Monday.
In a press release, the Kings District RCMP said police received a call around 1:30 p.m. about the threat of a student at the school. The student was sent a photo of what looked like a gun.
The secondary school was closed and the Cambridge primary school and nearby District were placed in a safe place.
Several police departments, including the Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response Team and police dogs, converged on the high school.
Police said on release that the suspect allegedly entered a convenience store near the school on Highway 1 and left a backpack. The suspect was found with a different backpack at the time of his arrest and police said they found a replica of a gun inside.
The suspect was arrested around 2:35 p.m., about two miles from the institute.
He faces charges of possession of a weapon with a dangerous purpose and uttering threats.
He is scheduled to appear in Kentville Provincial Court on Monday.
