A 19-year-old Ottawa youth is facing several charges after allegedly throwing a knife at a police officer trying to break up a fight Friday night.
The Ottawa Police Service said in a statement that around 9:50 pm two RCMP officers working on Canada Day security were approached by a person who told them about a fight in near Booth and Fleet streets.
The area is located about half an island south of LeBreton Flats, where the Canada Day night show was being organized.
Officers located the riot and separated the fighters.
“One of the men stood up and brandished a knife at officers,” Ottawa police said Saturday in a statement.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
